Hailstorm on the Lawn

Captured this photo while speed-walking to an exam in the hail – I didn't even stand still when taking it. It's one of my favorite pictures because it serves as a reminder to take more photos. If your gut tells you to take the photo, do it. It's an asymmetric bet; you can simply delete it if it's not good. Now, I have a picture of a lifetime.

Snowy Alley

Despite classes being cancelled, I wanted to get out of the apartment because I hate working from home. I also wanted to capture a few snowy shots on Central Grounds. While walking to the library, I decided to take a detour through the alleyway by the Lawn Gardens. As I approached the alleyway, I was completely taken aback by the winter wonderland that presented itself. I think I framed the photo exceptionally well, using the brick walls as a compositional anchor. The viewer's eyes are directed toward the snowy road, which appears distant and seemingly endless. The warm brick wall and floor juxtapose incredibly against the cooler white tones of the ceiling and snow. My only gripe about the photo is that it looks slanted, which couldn't be corrected by tinkering with the tilt. Nonetheless, I'm glad to be using some of the techniques I learned in my high school photography classes.
